"The elusive Rattus-Ructus dwells deep within the sodden undergrowth and flatlands of the UK. It is known to originate from North America, where it acted as a primitive scoville heat scale for spice merchants. Merchants would subject the Rattus-Ructus to varying degrees of spice testing and rely heavily on the length, pitch and velocity of the 'burp' to judge according the heat of the spice. After being stowed away on merchant spice ships, it now exclusively resides in Stoke-on-trent. It is thought that the Rattus-Ructus has now evolved its extraordinary burping ability to act as a 'war cry', terrifying frogs and squirrels alike and gaining it's title in Midlands as the 'Mardy Rat' (Mardy- Grumpy/Sulky). Notice the leaf headgear, thought to be warn throughout the mating season, and to indicate that of a ripe young Rattus-Ructus (needs citation)".
